By Anouska Kock Who doesn’t know Alexandre Dumas? Yes, I’m talking about the French guy who wrote such famous novels as ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ and ‘The Three Musketeers’. You may also know that Dumas is of African descent. Well, get this: Alexandre apparently based his stories on the life of his father: Thomas-Alexandre Dumas. Yep, that’s right. It just so happens, that Thomas-Alexandre Dumas was a swashbuckling general during the French revolution. He rose to great fame, but then experienced a political downfall which eventually caused him to spend years in a dungeon and die in obscurity. His son, who was only four when Dumas senior passed away, spent his whole life holding onto the memory of his father. I wondered how many people could have a ride at once. My wondering was interrupted by the owner, he said “I bet you have never seen one like this before?” No I had not. I made my guess and he laughed. Turns out he is from the little village of Eagle Bend and purchased this vehicle second hand. I have a new job doing the advertising for Samsung. My first morning there I had to attend a status meeting for the agency. There was a writer from Prague and it was also his first day. We had to stand up in front of everyone and introduce ourselves a bit. I went first. Ok, I’m not going to peeve all over work again in this post. That would just be a no-brainer and an easy target. I’m peeving on other things that have irked me of late:Drama Queens: I think I might have possibly eluded to my distaste of drama queens in previous posts, but just to restate the fact: Why the drama? I have one friend in particular who is always at the summit of all things drama-related. She has an amazing white heart, but she just gets on my nerves sometimes and I have to bite my tongue to keep from hurting her feelings. And she is so opinionated that you can’t get a word in edgewise. I must apologize for the quiet day here. My oldest boy started kindergarten today, so I have been rather busy with mum stuff. Being back in the halls of an old elementary school has obviously inspired tonight's selection of images. Ah, the memories.
